A scenic bridleway weaves through the site, leading you either down to the charming village of Scalby or further afield across fields and woodlands, perfect for those eager to explore. The Cleveland Way and Dalby Forest are also within easy reach.

The Nags Head, as well as the delightful Yew Tree Café Bistro.

 

The village is also home to a local shop, and for more extensive provisions, Proudfoot's supermarket is just a short drive away in nearby Newby.

National Park & Dark Sky Reserve

Our location within the North York Moors National Park, which is also a designated Dark Sky Reserve (one of only 21 in the world) offers an array of activities and attractions that seem almost endless.

 

Simply being here is a delight, with the rich wildlife and pristine skies perfect for stargazing. On clear nights, you might even be lucky enough to witness the awe-inspiring Northern Lights.

Activities

The surrounding area is packed with attractions and activities for all ages. Dalby Forest offers walking and cycle routes, and is home to the thrilling Go Ape adventure park.

 

Wykeham Lakes is home to the Yorkshire Water Park, featuring an exciting water-based assault course. For family fun, Flamingo Land combines a theme park with a zoo, offering both roller coasters and fascinating wildlife, or Alpamare Waterpark offers pools, waterslides and a Wellness Spa for relaxation.

Beaches

Scarborough’s North and South Bays each offer their own charm - South Bay is lively with arcades, ice cream, and classic fish and chips, while North Bay offers a quieter setting with stunning views and peaceful walks along the shore.

 

For a more secluded beach experience, explore the hidden gems along the coast. You can try crabbing in the harbour or rock pooling on the headland, both great activities for all ages.

 

For something truly unique, head to Whitby or Sandsend and try your hand at fossil hunting.
